Read about
“Whatever Happened to Nice?”
in the news.
It’s 2010 and everywhere I go I wonder “Whatever Happened
to Nice?” Nice people, nice actions, nice stories, nice smiles. Where did
they go? As an Etiquette teacher for nearly half of my nearing
senior-status life, I’ve done my best to encourage practicing the
courtesies that some insist are vanishing. This book is designed to let
you see, watch and hear Etiquette come alive until what you see becomes
part of you also
What if Etiquette were a painting? Would it scream with
opaque, primary colors with modernistic slashes of stroke, or would it be
a subtle blend of water-colored pastels creating the masterpiece of a
rolling landscape?
What if Etiquette had feet? Would it walk heavy, stomping
on everything and anyone in its way, loudly demanding its right for
attention and power, or would those feet be covered in well worn moccasins
traversing a familiar path, entering and exiting with no disruption, but
walking with the confidence of one who respected others simply because
others are worthy of your respect?
What if Etiquette were a voice? Would the tone be abrasive,
the rhythm staccato, the volume loud and the accent grating, or would the
voice lilt in kindness-wrapped verbiage tied nicely with a smile and
carefully chosen edifying words?
My world of Etiquette is sometimes a story, a person, an action and
even a vision but it is never just a set of rules to be hurled in pride.
It is practical and real and I think you’ll find it rather nice.
